The early childhood years are magical ones, and at The Premo School, we focus on the daily delights and discoveries that naturally unfold. Our early childhood curriculum for young 5s through 1st grade is centered on nurturing each child’s natural curiosity, interests, and talents. With an undercurrent of community-building and cultivating the strengths and kindness of each individual child, the early childhood experience at Premo is collaborative, flexible, and steeped in mindful self-discovery.
Early Childhood Education
Young children are learning to explore and engage in the world around them in deeper, more meaningful ways. At Premo, we work to establish clear structures and routines, which help students take risks and try new behaviors in a safe, trusting environment. Play is central to this process—it's how children make sense of their experiences, build relationships, and develop critical thinking skills. Through play, they learn best: experimenting, problem-solving, and expressing themselves freely. Over time, the children learn how to share their voices and opinions with the understanding that mistakes and disagreements are an essential part of learning.
Engagement is central to our philosophy—children learn best when they're happy, supported, and immersed in meaningful activities. We foster a love of learning by introducing academic skills when children are ready, using flexible groupings to support both advanced learners and those who need more time. Our project-based, exploratory curriculum builds a strong foundation in self-expression, critical thinking, and social skills. Even our youngest students enjoy a well-rounded experience, participating weekly in two art classes, one yoga class, and one PE class.
